[The only problem is that Johnny certainly isn't actually chill at all. He's just projecting his own failures on someone who certainly doesn't deserve it. If only he could acknowledge that.

[The sarcasm practically drips from him mouth. He was just resentful that Daniel had actually managed to be there for his son while he wasn't.]

[ That gets a slight pause out of Daniel. He understands that Johnny is just being unreasonable here - oh, how he ever does understand that - but at the same time something about the other's words manages to strike him right in the heart all the same. Should he have done more to protect Robby back there? Could he have? There's no way, not with the situation they were in, but there's still a voice in the back of Daniel's head that pokes at him all the same, telling him he should've done something better, anything better--
He sucks in a breath. He can't let that get to him now, pushing it as far down as he can. It can bother him at some point later, when he isn't busy worrying over Robby and dealing with Johnny being Johnny. ]
.. you know what? Never mind this whole thing! I'll go find him to see if he's alright myself.
[ Especially since he's just wasting his time here. Important, precious time while he doesn't know if Robby is okay. If he's still stuck, still needs help. ]
I honestly don't know why I even thought it was a good idea to call you! [ Maybe because he hoped deep down that they could be an united front in the face of something like this - like they've been before, though it's always on thin, thin ice. But it seems like there's not even that this time around. ]
[Johnny. Who hasn't realized he's been acting completely out of line focuses in on that last part.]

[And Johnny clenches a fist and pauses. In a rare moment of clarity he sucks in a breath, clenches his teeth. And swallows his fucking pride.]
[ There are so many tempting ways to snap back at Johnny right now, because the other is acting in a way that's just utterly ridiculous. Daniel feels like he'd be very valid to do so. To throw Johnny's words back in his face, asking when he's ever been there for Robby, or asking if Johnny does somehow have things magically figured out here.
But there's those last words, and Daniel knows he can't say any of this. It's true that this is for Robby, and if he's just going to stand here and throw a fit, then he's never going to find the kid.
He can always get mad at Johnny later. There will doubtlessly be reasons for it. But-- only once he's sure Robby is safe.
So Daniel lets out a sigh so deep that it sounds like his very soul is leaving his body, before: ]
Fine. [ And then once more, like he really has to convince himself: ] Fine. Just wait, I'll be there as soon as possible.
[ And he does quickly press the 'end call' button.
Because god knows he'll snap if Johnny throws in some dumb remark at the end there. Daniel is trying so hard to be good here. He's just going to focus on rushing over there. ]
